This multi-media piece deals with the notions of freedom, creativity and identity. It resembles the preservation of a public image, and the need to maintain society’s standards. Within this, however, come feelings of insecurity – a common theme in today’s society. Contrasting to the bright colours and aesthetic appearance of the girl, the expression on the subject’s face is evidently not one of pleasure and lacking emotion. We’re all trying to conform to the same image whilst appearing unique. It’s difficult, frustrating and exhausting. Why can we not be proud of who we are? Why do we care so much about what the others think?
