Ashes

Joseph Glover

"Ashes" is a thoughtful lament on the value of remembrance to those who have passed. It's a slow meditation that works to provoke a spiritual unity with someone's memory, love, and compassion - both in living and death (loss). There seems to be a big taboo surrounding talking about loss, but the most powerful way to overcome it is through the joint efforts of traditional processes, and a humanity surrounding the subject; being able to talk freely, and question what a person meant to you enables a simulative release, and makes you value a person's life, and the impact they had on yours. “Ashes” was a self-directed, creative way for me to talk about the first loss I experienced in my life, and sharing it with those who it also effected opened-up a meaningful conversation
