Equality is a topic which quite rightly receives much attention in modern society. We are a nation which can pride ourselves on our attentiveness to social justice. I am fortunate enough to live in a society in which we feel the benefit from the equality for women, racial diversity and an inclusive populace.
However, overall I feel that there is more work to be done to ensure that every person is truly equal. My essay focuses on sexist discrimination which men encounter in the modern world and how it is overlooked and underrepresented in today’s society.
This is an issue I feel strongly about due to the fact that the media, in particular, perpetuates an image of what the ‘ideal man’ should be. In the digital world of body shaming and unrealistic standards, that are seen as unacceptable for women to live up to, is it not about time that men break free from these same expectations?
