Impending Doom is a Symptom of a Heart Attack

Georgia Leslie

The exploration of thought by which I framed my poem develops feelings of helplessness and worry that are universally human traits. However, the focus is really the end of the poem as it frames the speaker's most poignant fear; that despite all the ways in which they could meet and it could go right or wrong, they would rather that than never seeing them again and getting the chance to put themselves out there. I think that being okay with being vulnerable is a very admirable trait as the fear of rejection is so powerful it moves people towards inaction instead, which gets us nowhere. I mixed modern images of technology with an anti-modern message about what is important in life, which is living authentically even if it scares you.
