To Sleep

To Sleep

Delilah Rose Niel

This short film is about health and sleep deprivation.  I was inspired to make this film after a period of sleep deprivation I unthinkingly subjected myself too which led to mood change and unhappiness.  The film is about how detrimental lack of sleep can be - even leaving physical evidence on the body and beneath the eyes.  In the film the main character (played by me) accepts that she needs to sleep and as a result is returned to health.  Ultimately the movie values health and self-care, as well as good old-fashioned sleep!

The film is also in a way about self-indulgence, often people avoid having a "good night's sleep" or "lie in" because they feel they don't deserve it or prioritise work.  Ultimately, I think this can lead to a lack of self-care and again health issues.  In the film, the character learns to indulge herself and as a result is returned to health.
