My piece "Control" explores the value of the environment and humanity's relationship with the natural world.
Building developments, rapid deforestation, mankind tears down ecosystems for financial gain. These landscapes have so much more value than simply monetary, and deforestation is a leading cause of global warming. I hope that this piece helps people to reflect on this, and numbs our species' godlike mentality.
Living in Aberdeen, the oil capital of Europe, and feeling so passionate about the environmental themes of my work brings some interesting clashes of thoughts and debates in my mind, some guilt. My city has previously thrived off of the use of nature; my life has been funded by oil money and the environmental impact that this brings. Visiting untouched spaces puts things into perspective, i hope some people appreciate them.
