Screen-printed Cotton T-shirts

A series based on the ambiguity of washing instructions - taking the familiar but largely inaccessible imagery used in washing instructions and playfully turning the forms into obscure, cult-like designs.

The process involved printing the original pictograms onto crumpled paper and fabric, which was then laid out flat to create the scattered shapes: traced; reprinted; layered; photographed.

My practice aims to address issues of communication, from internationally misunderstood laundry symbols to the subversion of everyday forms of language.
