The Meaning of Life

The Meaning of Life

Calum Jones

My entry, a song titled “The Meaning of Life” was written in memory of SAC Christopher Bridge, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death.

Chris was a Gunner on C Flt, 51 Squadron RAF Regiment, RAF Lossiemouth who was killed in action on 30th August 2007 in Afghanistan when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

The song falls under many of the values in the circumplex – Humanity / Kindness / Security / Tradition. It expresses sadness at lives taken too early and the hopelessness of war. How those who wait and worry at home just want their loved ones to return home safely and the fighting to end. It explores their feelings of loss and sadness. It tells how the meaning of life is for it to go on and not for it to end through war and conflict.

All lyrics, music, parts written and performed myself.
