Burn the Rain
Burn The Rain
A poem blending broken senses with a vague reality. This 55-line poem portrays a young girl named Sally, who has her Freedom and Privacy ripped away from her when she is taken from her home in the middle of the night. The senses conveyed in this poem highlight the dynamics of Sally's deteriorating Health and work to establish her Detachment from, not only her own body and mind, but the outside world all together. I wanted to address the problems within this hellish scenario by emphasising Sally's loss of Freedom, Health, Identity, Senses etc. It is also helpful to note that the personification of the moon acts as a metaphor for how helpless society can be without knowledge of these events occurring.
