Brown Rocks

Brown Rocks

Sam Bancroft

This song comes from a conversation I had with an older and wiser relative after my first real break-up. The advice I was given was that recovering from a broken heart doesn't only take time, it also takes people. I didn’t fully understand at first but eventually realised that as I was consumed over death of one relationship I had neglected the beginnings of a new one, and had hurt people I cared about in the process. This song is about looking back at to the beginning of relationships and finally being able to see them with more clarity, and being hopeful that things in the future can be different.

This song belongs with 5 others that were recorded at the same time. It was created in my bedroom by myself, and the making of the project was a journey in itself. Mirroring a lot of my themes in the music of pain, love, and change. I have gladly come out the other side with something I'm proud off and I am grateful for the music for helping me grow.
