Awards Ceremony 16/17

We request the pleasure of your company at the 6th Annual John Byrne Award Awards Ceremony. 

All of the 100+ entries from 2016/2017 will be on display.
Every entrant will be considered for the the top £1000 and three £500 prizes. The winners will be announced at the ceremony.
Please invite friends, family and teachers. Everyone is welcome!

Awards Ceremony 2015

The 2015 JBA Awards Ceremony celebrated the creative values expressions of all of our entrants, and displayed the 10 shortlisted entries. The ceremony took place in November, 2015 in The University of Edinburgh’s Playfair Library. The finalists of The John Byrne Award, their parents, teachers, friends, members of the press and local dignitaries were in attendance. Well done to Ruaridh Macleod who won the 2015 competition with his improvisation on the violin.

Awards Ceremony 2014

The 2014 JBA Awards Ceremony saw John Byrne and Peter Capaldi present the prizes to an assembled audience of entrants, friends and family, teachers, and local dignitaries in the Edinburgh College of Art’s Sculpture Court. Well done to Andrew MacDonald, who won the 2014 competition with his play, entitled ‘The Treatment’.

Awards Ceremony 2013

The 2013 JBA Awards Ceremony saw Richard Holloway, writer and broadcaster present the prizes to our winners during a wonderful evening in The University of Edinburgh’s Dugald Stewart Building. The overall winner of the competition was 17-year-old Michelangelo Mulholland, a singer-songwriter from Edinburgh for his song and accompanying slideshow ‘Fifty Fractured Bars’.

Awards Ceremony 2012

In 2012, a panel of judges, including John Byrne, Richard Holloway and Joyce McMillan, selected the 2012 winners, with first prize going to Leanne Bell and Catriona MacDonald from Edinburgh for their entry of a combined play and painting. The awards ceremony was held in The University of Edinburgh’s Dugald Stewart Building.

The 2011 JBA Awards Ceremony was hosted by the Ingleby Gallery. Teams from across Edinburgh took part with the winning teams receiving a unique print from John Byrne, created especially for the occasion.
