How To Fend Off The Boredom

I'm inspired by processes of creativity and the aspiration of the artist to 'feel free'. This piece was created during a time of uncertainty. I was coming to the end of my time at art school, preparing for my degree show and feeling a lot of pressure to make a certain type of work which felt predictable. I think that playing, using new mediums to be strange, unselfconscious and allowing oneself to make unexpected decisions can often lead one to more exciting directions. I also feel that this piece is connected to the theme of 'humankind' as play is a way to bring people together. It's important to be curious about people and elements of society that aren't naturally familiar, and this is often what drives me to draw situations. Often the most mundane and everyday moments can be very beautiful and that is what I want to depict.
