She Loved me Too

Olivia Ebony Khan

To me, this piece expresses a few different values. Valuing the self is something I find so important. Not saying goodbye to my sister before she was adopted is one of my biggest mistakes and it has taken me a long time to work through and forgive myself for it. I also think it expresses the need to value what you have. I didn't realise at the time that this wasn't a normal way to live and I was quite content. It reminds me all the time to value the small things. I am forever grateful for my wonderful foster family, my safe, warm flat and all of the things I have in abundance that I had very little of growing up. Writing short stories about my past also serve as a reminder of how far I have come. How I have carefully reflected and worked through a lot of issues from this time. I am not and never will be fixed and I feel that part of growing is accepting this and trying to enjoy the ride.
