George

George

Rebecca Phin

I think the theme of true friendship best represents this piece. It is a portrait of my younger brother, George, accompanied by a concertina book. I was 18 months when George was born so I consider him to be my very first friend. As we have both grown up we have remained as close as we were as children. I believe that the bond we have really is true friendship and I am very grateful to have a friendship that I know is for life. I wanted the portrait to be simple, so that the focus was on George rather than what was in the background. I also chose a low, upwards angle to show his importance in my life. To accompany the portrait, I did a concertina book of photo transfers, drawings and writing that documents our friendship. The portrait is A4, acrylic on canvas and the concertina is eight pages.
