Bodies

Bodies

Bodies

Rachel Lu

The title and subject of this song was inspired by the self-sacrificing nature of love; as if we are burning our bodies in a ritualistic way for others. I felt as though the objective nature of describing ourselves as 'bodies' reflected our meaningless existence without feelings or emotion, and how by nature we are constantly finding an intrinsic value in our own lives, willing to 'burn' our bodies and our emotions along the way.

So we take risks; knowingly throwing ourselves into the danger of being hurt or disappointed. My most memorable times are those I have shared with others, yet the emotional journey that accompanies these relationships can only be compared with the worst of physical struggles. It often seems futile, yet in the intensity and chaos of it all, the moments of complete euphoria that we experience in love and friendship keeps us hooked. So we keep 'walking' on in the hope that the bleakness will flower into something beautiful. I hope this piece encapsulates the ever-hopeful way we approach life.

Lyrics.

After the ocean subsides,

Feels like my lover keeps my head under water,

Hearing the storm hit the tides,

Crossing the border, drifting out further

Rain from my tired eyes

But we keep on searching, searching for something

The something that's worth the fight

And I keep on walking

Even if you are suicide

'Cause it's making me, making me feel alive

Pain with the pleasure of loving somebody

So we’re burning our bodies

Pain with the pleasure of loving somebody

So we’re burning our bodies,

We're burning our bodies tonight

Jump off the cliff edge

Just for the moment where we're liberated,

Don't think about the consequences,

where we can go the others won't make it

Rush to the headlights,

Live for the moment that we are in heaven,

Don't think about the consequences

And I'll keep on walking

Even if you are suicide

'Cause its making me, making me feel alive

Pain with the pleasure of loving somebody

So we’re burning our bodies,

Pain with the pleasure of loving somebody

So we’re burning our bodies, tonight
