Thinking about the relationship I have with my younger brother and his place in the world being disabled and wheelchair bound. From experiencing the ignorance surrounding disability from onlookers you start to consider the inequalities not in just health but in most aspects of life. It saddens me that to most people all they see in my brother is that he is in a wheelchair. I thought about the way my brother interacts with the world, physically and through the cerebral processes which have formed his disability. This originated from a genetic mutation that now leaves him with very limited abilities. This has inspired my painting, which uses limited colours to convey the limitations of his physical functions, as well as showing the warmth of his personality, which ultimately defines him as my brother and how I see him as a person.
