Lost in Pacific Time

Lost in Pacific Time

Hannah McDonald

In this piece I wanted to explore the human experience of love and the build-up and deterioration of romantic relationships. I wanted to write something which focused on the feeling of love as we experience it; this emotion is a fundamental aspect of humanity. Romantic love in particular is one of the most powerful and potentially devastating emotions we can feel, and one of the things we value most as human beings.

In writing this piece I did not want to waste time describing things like appearances, names, or any other details which I felt were unnecessary to the progression of the story. I wanted to focus solely on the description of feelings, in an attempt to make the experience of reading the piece as relatable and accessible as possible. The value we place on love can sustain us but also devastate us, and that idea is what I wanted to explore here.
