As my friends have anxiety and depression, they tell me about the horrible feeling of having to suppress that unhappiness and nervousness and put on a fake smile for the audience. There are many people who don't understand depression or anxiety so I tried to draw a visual representation of what it may feel like for them! It also shows the humanity in our emotions and that it's alright to feel this way rather than putting up an act. I had hope that through this drawing I can broaden people's perception on mental illness and the emotions felt with someone with anxiety. This is also something that many people can relate to as we have all had to suppress our anger and hurt too.
