Cultural Collectives

Hannah Rumbels

The piece in which I painted was based on the Humanity, tradition and stimulation. It is painted using objects from many different countries to represent countries coming together and becoming one and showing the similarities that can be found through simplicity in many different cultures. The objects painted all represent and hold different meaning to each cultures. Such as the Chinese coins represent good luck and hope and the henna pattern presents a true traditional culture. This brings together humanity as it shows cultures and countries and also shows that the world can be at peace together as one. The piece also shows the variations in life and culture as such diverse objects hold such strong meanings in many different cultures. The Indonesian mask is used to show the past of the country and reflect stories in which can be seen and told through the mask, all the objects within the composition show the true meaning, humanities and stimulation of life. Furthermore the Chinese bright pattern, it shows happiness and respect for tradition as the pattern and colours are still used on garments today. This shows tradition to the county and humanity to the composition as it unites many cultures with traditions and shows their similarities and brings world peace. The background colour being a light, warm, pale blue shade represents peace and calm within the world, it represents enjoyment and the enjoyment of life, the light blue can be seen on a warm sunny day, portraying feelings of happiness, spread throughout the countries coming together to form unity throughout the world.
