Pieces of Personality

Drew Hamilton

For most of my work, I look at altering our perception of reality. In doing this I made a geometric installation and put my friend, Delphin in it. I've been inspired by the bold shapes and shadows made by the installation to create this piece. In my painting "pieces of personality" The geometrical shapes surrounding delphin show she is detached from herself; the shapes symbolise fragments of her personality. The visual approach altering our perception by showing her feelings on the outside and all around her, she is unable to escape. Although simple they are completely surrounding her. I painted "pieces of personality" to show how easy it is to become detached from yourself and become confused in your own being.

The bright colours and strong brush strokes create a surreal effect and Sense of illusion, I've used the same bold colours in the background and also in her face to show the background Is a part of Delphin.
