My Piece is called 'Cleanse' and it's generally about a clean slate, being free of things you could have held onto for too long, hence freedom. This is a value I find in my painting because of the freedom of the movement of water and the general idea of cleansing your perspective on the things around and getting an idea of the important things rather than petty dramas. One of my close friends was the model for my painting in which represents a lot in itself. She is someone who, even though I love her, can become oblivious to people around her and how her actions lead to someone else's outcome. So there is an idea of forgiveness and being at one with yourself considering that's the only person who will be with us forever, and the many sides of ourselves. So the different elements of my painting all maybe seem insignificant but add up, at least in my mind to say a whole lot more. For my advanced higher art this year I'm dealing with the social issues of feminism and body image which I try to incorporate in my artwork which is another reason for choosing my friend who isn't a model but beautiful no matter what size.
