Can't Sleep

Can't Sleep

Claire Byrne

I created this oil painting over the period of a month, only working on it when I couldn't sleep at night. For me, the idea behind this piece was to show that as much as we try to block out things that have happened to us in the past, they're always going to have happened and have an impact on our future. You can crumple up a piece of paper and then try to flatten it out again, but it can't go back to how it was before. Each life experience we have, no matter how big or small, has an affect on the people we are at this moment in time.
